As we come up to the three-year anniversary of living in our house, there are still just so many things to do! This year, we (my husband and I) decided that 2018 is the year of adding character and charm(!) to our home with a mini project for a space or room. Each month we are going to be dedicating a new project for our home…it’s almost the end of January, but we made it to our small project…the kitchen island “paintover!”
Our house was painted last year a fabulous color…Sherwin Williams ‘Agreeable Gray’…the perfect ‘greige’ in our lives. We painted the kitchen area, all common areas, hallways and family room. It looks great but we wanted to make our central kitchen island stand out with a bit more contrast. We didn’t have time to gussy it up too much with some beadboard or molding and I am not exactly sure that is the style that we were looking for, so after a search on Pinterest…I settled on a great color…Sherwin Williams Peppercorn to get started!
As the paint was being mixed in the store, the sales lady told me I was “bold”…this got me nervous for a moment, but I sucked it up and bought the gallon and excitedly taped up the kitchen island ready to paint.
It took all of an hour to give it two coats and I have to say…I love it! We just bought a new lighter wood kitchen table and chairs so the contrast with the darker wall is just what it needed! What do you think? Let me know in the comments!
